The ALDFG removal from the impacted rocky outcrops off the Venetian coast has been completed. As a whole, about 500 Kg of ALDFGs at different degradation stages were recovered from eight rocky outcrops (Tegnùe) and one artificial structure (Soffolta). The removal operations were carried out by Laguna Project Partner according to the protocol developed in the framework of the project, which is helpful in evaluating the removal sustainability of each single tool according to type, presence of endangered fouling or threatened species and grade of cohesion with the rocky outcrops. Following specific physic-chemical analyses, most the recovered material is now undergoing treatment trials to evaluate the chance of recovering and recycling.
The GHOST team would like to acknowledge the Divers Group of the State Police (Questura di Venezia) for their valuable support provided during some recovery campaigns.
