The final conference of the project will be held on October 20 in Venice, at the Congress Centre 'Don Orione Artigianelli', Zattere Dorsoduro 909/a. The event will be an opportunity for reflection and deepening on the management of fishing gear discarded or abandoned at sea and will offer an overview on the most innovative technical approaches for the treatment and reuse of plastic materials of which the nets are mainly composed. Italian and foreign experts have been invited to share with all project stakeholders their most recent experiences and achievements in their respective fields of action which, although from different angles, are all converging towards the identification of technical and management solutions for the reduction of marine plastic waste, in particular of abandoned fishing nets.
The first session dedicated to the presentation of the project results, will be followed by two more sessions dedicated to European and global initiatives, and to local proposals for the eco-sustainable management of waste resulting from fishing activities. The final panel session, moderated by journalist A. Cianciullo from the newspaper "La Repubblica", and dedicated to the most innovative technical and technological approaches for the reduction and reuse of this type of waste, offers an overview of concrete and interesting proposals for various categories of stakeholders, proposing food for thought and discussion.
The language of the conference is Italian, with simultaneous translation services for English.
